Alley Cat Strike!

So today a few Armorel students and teachers got to travel to Kennett, MS to go bowling for the Special Olympics! My student has been so excited about going since she heard about it last week! It was fun getting to leave and do something besides work on school with her for a change. She's such a hard worker and makes awesome grades, she deserved a day of something special and no stress! I don't think she has been bowling many times before but she did pretty good! I took a few pics on my phone of our awesome day to share!

This is my student and one of her friends who also got to go bowling today. They have been in the same class since Kindergarten and are very close!

Look at that form! She's a natural!!

She's so cute! I love working with her!

She won the silver medal for her age group!!! So Proud of her!!

We are best friends! She is the reason I get up to go to work everyday :)

So as you can see we had a great time! My job is such a blessing to me everyday and during a month that focuses on what you are thankful for, this is one of my top 5!

Happy Tuesday!

A Weekend Well Spent

On Friday I was super excited to have my first houseguest since I moved into my apartment! One of my best friends, Amber, lives in Memphis, only an hour away and she came up to go to Armorel's Homecoming basketball game with me! Unfortunately, I've misplaced my camera somewhere so I was unable to take pictures of all the students at the game, but everyone looked beautiful!  I loved getting to introduce Amber to a lot of the students I work with and around everyday and she got to meet my student who I sign for! Mrs. Meachum, who is in charge of Armorel's Homecoming, did an awesome job and it went off without a hitch! And both the guy's and girl's teams won their games, a great ending to a great homecoming week!

Saturday morning Amber left and I headed to West Memphis to spend the day with my Mimi and Papaw. Mimi and I went around to all of the gift shops in the West Memphis/Marion area who were having their holiday open houses. There were a lot of cute shops open with so much to look at. Mimi was able to get some of her Christmas shopping done for me after listening and looking and some of the things I was interested in. Usually going holiday shopping like this is something my mom would normally do with my Mimi, but because she lives 4 hours away, she wasn't able to. I'm glad I live so close now that I am able fill in for mom.

That night I went with Mimi and Papaw to their Mustang Club fall cookout. My Papaw restores old mustang convertibles and so he is in a club with others who restore or collect mustangs also. My younger cousin's also came, which was great because I haven't seen them since probably Easter. The man's house it was at is a collector of all things old and cool and one of the things he has collected is an old ferris wheel from a carnival, and it still works! The cousin's rode on it and seemed to have a great time! And on a great note, the Hogs won! I was keeping up with the score on my phone all night :) Because it was so late when we got home from the cookout my Papaw wouldn't let me drive home in the fog, so I spent the night.

Sunday afternoon we were lazy and watched football and movies. I went to church with them tonight before heading back to Blytheville. I loved spending my weekend with my family, it is such a blessing living so close to them now and being able to visit them when I want! Hopefully there will be many more visits in the future! I Hope ya'll have a great start to the week! Happy Monday!

New Beginnings...

I decided to start a blog! A lot of my friends have one and said I would be surprised with how many people will actually read it, so here goes nothing!

5 months ago I graduated from Ouachita Baptist University with a degree in speech pathology! I had spent the past 4 years of my life wrapped up in everything OBU and on May 8th I closed a chapter of my life. For those of ya'll who don't know, in August I moved to Blytheville, Arkansas started working at a small high school in that area, Armorel. I am a sign language translator for a 15 year old sophomore girl, and I really love my job.

Also for those of ya'll who don't know, while living in Blytheville, I share an apartment with a great roomie, my dad :)! We're going on 3 months being roommates and it has it's challenges but I'm really glad I have him there for me on bad days. I've gotten to practicing my awesome cooking skills on him and lets just say I've started being a really great housekeeper cleaning up after him! But in all seriousness it's great having my dad to be my roommate, it's a blessing that we have this time together.

This week is homecoming week at Armorel, and lets just say the kids are crazy, kinda makes me glad tomorrow's that last day!  It is a lot of fun though, and it makes me remember all my homecoming weeks from high school, all the dress up days and trying to win the spirit awards! Most days I leave work thinking you couldn't make me go back to my high school days for anything! But during this homecoming week I've had a slight change of heart. It was a fun time and I have some great memories from all those years! I'm excited to go to work tomorrow and see everyone in their orange and black, and watch the parade and pep rally, and later at the game watch the queen being crowned, oh the simple joys of being back in high school, just for a week :)

So this blog is just another thing to add to the list of new things in this chapter of my life! I think it will be great to write as more and more new things make their way into my life and I'm looking forward to it!
